Are you looking for a new furry friend for the family? Stars and Stripes has partnered with Signonella Animal Welfare Society (SAWS) to let you know about a pet that is looking for a new home. This month, meet Toby.

Hello, my name is Toby. I am 1.3 years-old.

I am an XL mixed breed.

I have been in the shelter for one year. 

My favorite things are going on long walks, playing with toys (and sticks!), and running around the yard.

I would do best in a home with a secure yard and a family who understands large dogs.

I do great with kids and other dogs (big and small!), but I need a home with no cats.

I’m a big boy (over 51 kg!), but don’t let my size fool you… I truly believe I’m a lap dog. I love to be close to my people and will happily curl up next to you for cuddles.

I’m very well-trained and obedient. I’ve been to doggy school, I follow commands, and I always sit patiently before meals until I’m told I can eat. I’m also kennel trained (that’s my cozy bedroom!) and fully potty trained.

I’m very social with other dogs and understand dog language well — I know when to play and when to give space. On walks, I can get alert around cats, but with guidance and distraction, I listen well and stay focused on my handler.

I don’t jump on people, I love treats and I’ll definitely let you know when I’m ready for some love and attention.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and well-behaved companion with a big heart (and an even bigger cuddle factor), I might just be your perfect match.
