After leaving the touristy places and meandering the windy and sometimes hidden backstreets of Marrakesh, my boyfriend and I quickly felt lost and overwhelmed. We were both almost certain that we’d never make it back to the hotel, and a surge of impatience and moodiness started to crawl up on me and my heat exhausted self.

Feeling deprived of energy, we started looking for a well-rated tagine restaurant. However, even this seemingly easy task took up a good amount of our afternoon as we darted in and out of this maze known as Marrakech.

Luckily, my boyfriend remembered the advice from a fellow tourist and seasoned pilot, who had made the same experience of getting lost. Unlocking his phone, my boyfriend opened the app “Skobbler” and just like that, we were easily lead to the restaurant. This life-saving app made our trip much more enjoyable and stress-free!

Skobbler is an open street map that pinpoints your exact location and precisely navigates you to your destination using turn by turn direction. GPS Navigation (Sat Nav) is the American App Store equivalent that uses the same map technology.

Stumble upon an architectural highlight on one of your travels and want to know more about it? With their wiki travel guide, you’ll be kept informed. The best part about this app is you can use it offline, although this only works if you have downloaded the map before beforehand. We went to a nearby café with wifi to download the map we needed.

This app, practical for pedestrians and drivers alike, will make your trip hassle-free when it comes to directions.
