Bucket list: Lisbon edition

Millions of tourists flock to Lisbon each year and it’s easy to see why. The capital of Portugal is a budget-friendly destination with so much to offer such as iconic tram rides, picturesque architecture, lively neighborhoods and a plethora of gastronomic experiences to be had. When making a trip to this incredible city, check off these bucket list adventures!

  1. Stroll through the Alfama neighborhood and listen to traditional fado music.
  2. Eat all the delicious food from Portugal’s best chefs at Time Out Market.
  3. Take a sip of port wine or try ginjinha — a red cherry liqueur.
  4. Delight your taste buds and try pastéis de nata — Portuguese custard tarts.
  5. Take a ride on Lisbon’s famous Tram 28. 
  6. Tour the historic Castelo de São Jorge.
  7. View the 15th-century fortified tower, Belém Tower, that resembles a quaint fairytale castle.
  8. Admire the beauty of the Jerónimos Monastery.
  9. Stare in awe of the many azulejos (tiles) adorning all kinds of buildings.
  10. Pay a visit to the roofless Carmo Convent.
