Ah, Edinburgh. The striking capital of Scotland is brimming with spectacular sights and history. With the imposing Edinburgh Castle overlooking the city, amazing architecture, fantastic museums, delicious delicacies and plenty of shopping, there is something for everyone. To help create a perfect itinerary in this Scottish city, consider this bucket list!

1. Stroll along the colorful storefronts along Victoria Street and see the real-life inspiration of Diagon Alley in the “Harry Potter” series.
2. Take in the dazzling panorama of city from the mighty fortress of the Edinburgh Castle.
3. Stop in one of the many souvenir shops along the Royal Mile. This mile-long stretch of road extends from Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyrood.
4. Get that royal feeling by touring Her Majesty’s official residence in Edinburgh — the Palace of Holyrood. Tip: It’s less crowded than Edinburgh Castle and just as lovely.
5. Discover the history (and horrors) of the Edinburgh underground in the Middle Ages at Real Mary King’s Close.
6. Climb to the top of Arthur’s Seat for stunning views of the area. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring extra clothes if it’s muddy.
7. Climb to the top of Calton Hill. Full of monuments and memorials, this unique spot also boasts Instagram-worthy photo ops.
8. Take a break and stop by one of the many whisky shops and see for yourself why Scotland is famous for it.
9. If whisky isn’t your thing, how about tea? Explore the city with the Red Bus Bistro and enjoy an afternoon tea while drinking in the sights.
10. One word: Haggis.
