Christmas market season is well underway. While you have probably visited some near you, take a chance on these eight markets sprinkled throughout Europe! Take a train, bus, or drive — either way, these markets will not disappoint with their own unique highlights and delicacies!

1) Strasbourg, France
Open through Dec. 30, 2019
Located: 11 markets in different squares throughout central Strasbourg.
Market highlights: Alsatian Christmas decorations and street art.
Indulge in: Bredeles (star-shaped spice bread cookies).

2) Budapest, Hungary
Open through Jan. 1, 2020.
Located:  Vorosmarty Square and St Stephen’s Square.
Market highlights: Light shows, ice skating rink and folk dances.
Indulge in: Kurtoskalacs, also known as chimney cakes.

3) London, England
Open through Jan. 6, 2020
Located: Hyde Park, Leicester Square
Market highlights: Santa’s grotto, Shakespearience event and The Ice Bar.
Indulge in: Oysters at pop-up oyster bars in the markets.

4) Edinburgh, Scotland
Open through Jan. 5, 2020
Located: East Princes Street Gardens and George Street.
Market highlights: St. Andrew Square ice rink, Santa Land, Festival Square Spiegeltent
Indulge in: Haggis, neeps and tatties (savory pudding with turnips and potatoes)

5) Prague, Czech Republic
Open through Jan. 6, 2020
Located: Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square
Market highlights: Petting zoo
Indulge in: Pražská Šunka, roasted ham on a stick.

6Brussels, Belgium
Open through Jan. 7, 2020
Located: Grand-Palace
Market highlights: Sound and light show on the Grand-Palace and a covered ice rink at Place de la Monnaie.
Indulge in: Belgium waffles, fries, chocolate, and mussels.

7) Barcelona, Spain
Open through Dec. 23, 2020
Located: La Fira de Santa Llucia, Sagrada Familia, Gran Via
Market highlights: Font Magica, Three Kings Parade, ice rink and the harbour swim event.
Indulge in: Escudella, a Catalan stew.

8) Madrid, Spain
Open through Jan. 6, 2020
Located: Plaza Mayor
Market highlights: Naviluz, el Bus de la Navidad is a Christmas tour bus that takes you throughout the city and smaller markets.
Indulge in: Reyes (a large ring-shaped bun eaten on Jan. 6th)
