Summer is slowly fading to autumn, but the COVID-related cancellations of large-scale events stand firm. Throughout Germany this year, there will be no massive wine festivals or other celebrations marking the harvest.
Have you been to a German grocery store this summer and seen the small, yellow plums for sale? When a tree near my house started dropping these to the ground, I decided to do some digging (and tasting).
Grab your pumpkin-spice latte and Banana Republic scarf because it is almost the season that gives us the reason to live: fall.
We’ve managed to round up a list of some smaller-scale events happening near U.S. bases. Keep an eye out for last-minute cancellations, and of course, follow the latest guidance from your command:
Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Fall can be the perfect time to start delving into crafts, particularly beginner woodworking. With perfect temperatures and abundant sunshine, autumn allows everyone some time outside.
GETTING SETTLED
Moving to Italy is a big change for the entire family. Children certainly feel this impact as they leave behind familiar schedules, classrooms, friends and neighborhoods. Here are ways to make the transition as smooth as possible for your kiddos.
As we creep into fall and eventually winter, soon new fruits and vegetables will creep into the produce aisle. When produce is in-season you’ll see a lot more of it. It’ll be cheaper and likely taste better.

The good thing about being a student is that you have all the time in the world to travel the world. The bad thing about being a student is that you don’t always have the money to travel, especially during the peak seasons.

Like me, you’re probably used to fall centering around Pumpkin-spiced whatever, Old Navy sweaters and Ugg boots, well cheap knock off Ugg boots for me. Europe in autumn is something truly special. If you’re trying to decide on any last-minute getaways this fall, I would highly recommend Italy.
Autumn is my favorite time of year in Deutschland. The seasonal specialties in restaurants around town are to die for; trees turn from green to gold to burgundy; and beer and wine flow freely at lively festivals nearly every weekend.
As the nights begin to cool and the sun begins to set a little earlier every day, the earth adorns herself in her most intricate outfit of them all, fall.
