“Yeah, it might be all that you get…”

Long after finishing the series, I find myself still singing the catchy theme song to “Ted Lasso” while making morning coffee. And then I usually plan to bake the delectable biscuits from the series soon. Unexpectedly, the feel-good show about an American football coach who moves to Richmond, U.K. to train an English Football team (two very different sports) captured my heart and renewed my interest in what only fellow Americans call soccer.

The inspirational quotes, rooting for the underdogs and characters that sneakily grow on you, had my family excited to plant ourselves on the couch and indulge in binge-watching for weeks. And now, much like the surprising twists and turns in the series, it is returning with a new season after a three-year hiatus. This time, Ted (Jason Sudeikis) will be coaching FC Richmond’s new women’s football team!

The series trailer has dropped with Tanya Reynolds from Sex Education playing the new assistant coach, along with some other notable names playing the female footballers. The first episode is set to release on Apple TV August 5th, 2026, in the U.K. But who will return?

Fan Favorite Updates

Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein): “He’s here, he’s there, he’s every-[f-------]-where, Roy Kent! Roy Kent!” The loveable foul-mouthed grump who curses too much will return reprising his coaching role.

Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) and Keeley Jones (Juno Temple): Fans will see the return of this dynamic duo whose unlikely friendship empowered each other throughout the series.

Family man Leslie Higgins (Jeremy Swift) and Ted’s right-hand man Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt): Both original members of the Diamond Dogs are confirmed to return. We can’t wait to see what advice the Diamond Dogs will dish out next!

“Jamie Tartt, doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo! Jamie Tartt!” (Phil Dunster): Unfortunately, Dunster will not return this season due to filming conflicts. However, fans hope to see his impressive plays and love-hate relationship with Roy again in the future.

Nathan Shelley (Nick Mohammad): While Coach Nate has not been confirmed for season 4, Mohammad has teasingly and recently held up a “Believe” sign which has caused speculation for a possible return.

Ted’s Biscuits with the Boss Recipe

In the beginning of the series, Ted slowly warms over boss, Rebecca, through his candid attitude, general thoughtfulness, and the surprisingly delectable shortbread biscuits he brings to her each morning. Rebecca even becomes a little obsessed with finding out where he bought them. Though viewers know his secret, which isn’t just love.

Ingredients

Ingredients for the biscuit recipe are lined up

Ingredients for Ted Lasso’s biscuits with the boss (Katie Wells)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour or, gluten-free flour (I use King Arthur’s measure for measure in this recipe.)

  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt or sea salt (1/2 teaspoon if you prefer less salt)

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened.

  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon-ish pure vanilla extract (measure with your heart)

  • 1/8-1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper.

Step 2: In a stand mixer, use a paddle attachment to mix the butter, sugar, vanilla, almond extract and salt. Start on a low speed, then increase to medium speed until the dough is light and creamy. I prefer to use a simple dough whisk.

Step 3: Add the flour until the dough is hydrated but crumbly. Do not overmix.

Step 4: Spread the dough into the baking pan. Lay another sheet of parchment paper down on top and press until smooth and even.

Step 5: Use a fork to lightly prick the surface of the dough (about 30 times) and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Step 6: Bake for 30-35 minutes until the edges are golden brown.

Step 7: While still warm, sprinkle the top of the biscuits with sugar.

Step 8: Once cooled, cut the biscuits into rectangles and box them up like Ted does, or put them in a sealed container to store. They keep well for about a week.
