Heidi Burkhardt Robinson, thank you for your photo of market mugs from Dresdner Streizelmarkt. We love the mitten detailing on the handles! The Dresden Christmas market is the oldest and most influential one in Germany, dating back to 1434. Check out where it all began from Nov. 26–Dec. 24. 2025.

This market has a full program. Visitors can enjoy handicraft workshops, performances in the fairytale house and gnome cinema, see the world’s largest walk-in candle arch, view an expansive nativity scene and so much more.

While strolling and shopping among over 200 decorated stalls, try the Dresdner Christstollen. The traditional holiday bread is made with nuts, dried fruit and spices, plus it’s coated in powdered sugar. Many visitors purchase a Dresdner Pflaumentoffel, a figurine made of dried plums, for good luck.
