Thinking about traveling away from home in the near future? Remember to not only pack all your necessities but think about those you are leaving behind as well. Parents and friends are always concerned about you; therefore, it is crucial to stay in touch to let them know you are safe. A strong connection with family also updates them about your traveling destination.

Below are some tips to stay in touch with your family and friends when you are away:

1. Try SIM-only sim only deals

When you travel, your mobile phones are your best friends; you can use them to document your journey, manage your finances, contact family, etc. Choosing the right phone plan is an excellent way to start. SIM-only deals present an amazing package of mobile data, texts, and minutes for a monthly cost – similar to a traditional mobile phone contract. SIM-only deals can provide you with an edge over an ongoing contract by paying a monthly amount – it can be cheaper and deliver better-value call time and data.

2. Be active on your social media accounts

Another thing that you can do to get in contact with your family is to post your photographs and videos on Facebook and Instagram. Around 2.7 billion people use Facebook, so before you head out on your journey, request all of your dear ones to sign up to your social media pages, groups, and channels on Facebook, YouTube, or Instagram. This way, everyone will be able to see your traveling photos and videos on your social accounts. It will not only help them to follow your journey but tell them you are safe and enjoying your time.

3. Join video chatting platforms: Skype or FaceTime

Video chatting is also an amazing way that helps you stay in touch back to your family. You can use different mobile apps like Skype or FaceTime that are very convenient and easy to use. Despite being in different time zones and nations, these video apps create an environment like you are in one room. However, creating a schedule of days and times to have these calls can make things smoother.

4. Text on WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger

If you are not connected with your friends through video chat, you can send a text through Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp. Both apps are free and easy to use. You get regular notifications of calls and text messages. Along with the text, you can also dial an audio and video call through this free app. You can also see whether the receiver has received and read your message or not. Undoubtedly, it is a great way to let your parents know that you are safe!

5. Start A Travel Blog

Starting a travel blog is quite easy and free. It is a great idea to allow yourself to present your travel experiences so people will come to your blog to get an update from your side. You can also start a YouTube channel to post your weekly Vlog sequel to share the updates of your favorite stops or to let the world know where you have been. Starting a website is also one of the best-earning ways. Starting a few websites through Wix or WordPress is also a fantastic idea as you can post your blog about your adventure. Once you share your blog on your website, you can also post it on your social media channels so that your inspiring story can motivate others.

6. Send a postcard from wherever you are

Sending a letter to your loved one is a traditional yet relieving idea. When they receive something different from their utility bills and grocery flyers, the family becomes excited. If it is a postcard from the one who is miles away, the happiness, you can better imagine the happiness level. Postcards lie in the list of inexpensive ways to send a memento to a loved one from the different places you traveled. Getting a handwritten note can provide an unmeasurable delight. Although it may take extra time to reach the destination, the receiver will be touched and ecstatic when it is delivered.

If you are somewhere out traveling, do not forget to stay in touch with your family and friends. Contacting them can be a bit difficult sometimes, but it's not impossible. Make sure to have a good mobile device, SIM card, and knowledge of different apps and then begin your adventurous travels.
