20 Netflix shows you can binge-watch with the family

The kids are home, you’re being asked to practice “social distancing” and your family might be on the brink of a very legit case of cabin fever. 

While a lot of us associate Netflix with our favorite juicy dramas and comedies, often they’re not something the little ones should be viewing. But, there are some great shows you can binge-watch as a family and it can avoid having to watch “Baby Shark” or “Paw Patrol” for the 357th time in a row.

Note: These are shows with a rating of TV-14 or below. Everyone’s family is different, so you’ll want to research the show before watching it to make sure it’s right for your family. These shows are currently available on UK, Italy and Germany Netflix lineups unless otherwise noted.

“Adventure Time” (TV-PG) (Not available in the UK) 

A 12-year-old boy and his best friend, a wise 28-year-old dog with magical powers, go on a series of surreal adventures with each other.

“The Amazing World of Gumball” (TV-Y7) (Not available in the UK) 

The life of a twelve-year-old boy who happens to be a blue cat as he lives with his family and other strange creatures.

“Boss Baby: Back in Business” (TV-Y7)

With a little help from his brother and accomplice, Tim, Boss Baby tries to balance family life with his job at Baby Corp headquarters.

“Full House” & “Fuller House” (TV-G) 

A widowed broadcaster raises his three daughters with assistance from his rock'n'roll brother-in-law and his madcap best friend.

“Gilmore Girls” (TV-PG)

A dramedy centering around the relationship between a thirtysomething single mother and her teen daughter living in Stars Hollow, Connecticut.

“The InBESTigators” (TV-Y) 

When Maudie, a ten-year-old puzzle prodigy, forms a detective agency with her classmates Ezra, Ava and Kyle, no crime is left unsolved.

“Lost in Space” (TV-PG)

After crash-landing on an alien planet, the Robinson family fight against all odds to survive and escape, but they're surrounded by hidden dangers.

“Merlin” (TV-PG) (Not available in Italy)

These are the brand new adventures of Merlin, the legendary sorcerer as a young man, when he was just a servant to young Prince Arthur on the royal court of Camelot, who has soon become his best friend, and turned Arthur into a great king and a legend.

“Night on Earth” (TVPG)

This nature series' new technology lifts night's veil to reveal the hidden lives of the world's creatures, from lions on the hunt to bats on wings. 

“Nailed It” (TV-PG) 

Home bakers with a terrible track record take a crack at re-creating edible masterpieces for a $10,000 prize. It's part reality contest, part hot mess

“Our Planet” (TV-PG)

Witness the planet’s breathtaking diversity from seabirds carpet-bombing the ocean to wildebeests eluding the wild dogs of the Serengeti. 

“A Series Of Unfortunate Events” (TV-PG) 

After the loss of their parents in a mysterious fire, the three Baudelaire children face trials and tribulations attempting to uncover dark family secrets.

“Raising Dion” (TV-PG)

A widowed single mom discovers that her son has superpowers and tries to figure out how to raise him safely and responsibly.

“Spongebob Squarepants” (TV-Y)

The misadventures of a talking sea sponge who works at a fast-food restaurant attends a boating school and lives in an underwater pineapple.

“Stranger Things” (TV-14)

When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief and his friends must confront terrifying supernatural forces in order to get him back.

“Supergirl” (TV-PG) (Not available in the UK) 

The adventures of Superman's cousin in her own superhero career.

“Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia” (TV-Y7)

An ordinary boy finds a magic amulet that chooses him to be a Trollhunter, a guardian that defends the world of humans and the secret world of trolls.

“Ultimate Beastmaster” (TV-PG)

Eighteen competitors from six countries compete against each other in an intense obstacle course for cash prizes, individual glory and national pride.

“Umbrella Academy” (TV-14) 

A family of former child heroes, now grown apart, must reunite to continue to protect the world.

“You vs. Wild” (TV-PG)

In this interactive series, you'll make key decisions to help Bear Grylls survive, thrive and complete missions in the harshest environments on Earth.
