Many military-connected kids find that they need to make new friends frequently. (Mat Hayward - stock.adobe.com)

As a military-connected kid, I don’t really feel special at all.
Military kids are always praised for being so strong because we move a lot, or our parents are gone all the time, but it’s all I’ve every known.
Sure, the experiences that come with it are helpful. I’m incredibly good at making new friends and adapting to new situations very quickly and efficiently, but I feel like that’s nothing worth celebrating.
I’m just like everyone else in my situation.
I really do hope, however, that I remember just how great this has been. I lived in Japan. I’ve been to over thirty countries. I’ve made great friends from all over the world. It’s been great, and I consider myself very lucky.
