Spangdahlem High School cheerleaders (provided by Javier Graham)
This week our School Spotlight is on Spangdahlem High School, a Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) school located in Germany.
To highlight the school and its connection with the local community, we have three videos to feature. All of them show the dedication of students, staff and community collaboration at Spangdahlem.
The Spangdahlem High School Sentinels offer a variety of fall sports for students at the school. From football, cheerleading and volleyball to cross country, tennis and golf, the Sentinels are a force to reckon with.
Sentinels athletes are not just competitive. They have a passion for the game, which shows in their skill and determination. Teamwork. School Spirit. Sportmanship. These define Sentinels sports at Spangdahlem.
Teacher Javier Graham is the Spangdahlem High School Productions team leaders. He collaborated with teachers, coaches and students to produce this video.
One of the many Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses available to students at Spangdahlem High School is Video Communications.
Collaborating with the Spangdahlem Air Base Fire Department, students in Video Communications 3 produced a video about the fire department. Not only do students in CTE courses get hands-on learning, at Spangdahlem they are able to partner with organizations outside of school, like the fire department, to use their skills. The student video highlights the role of the Spangdahlem Fire Department and offers tips on safety use of lithium ion batteries.
Students were in charge of the entire video production process, with support from their teacher Mr. Graham. The video was produced in time to kick off Fire Prevention Week in October.
A senior at Spangdahlem High School, Cordrick S. collaborated with the Resiliency Office at Spangdahlem Air Force Base in order to direct, edit and produce a suicide prevention public service announcement.
The video not only showcases Cordick’s video production skills, but provides a resource for the local Spangdahlem community.
Initially released in September, during Suicide Prevention Month, the video was first published on the Resliency Office’s Facebook page.
