Put on your scarves and mittens, along with a comfortable pair of hiking boots you’re not afraid to get a little muddy, and head out to the beautiful village of Edenkoben for its 12th Wine and Chesnut Market, or Edenkobener Wein und Kastanienmarkt. Warm yourself with bags of hot roasted nuts, sample local wines and shop for homemade bread, flour, noodles, sausage and even beer and liquer – all flavored with the sweet yet subtle essence of chesnuts.

In addition to food and spirits, you will also be able to find unique pieces of furniture, art and jewelry intricately carved from pieces of warm, honey-colored chesnut wood.

The festival will be in full swing Oct. 14 and 15. If little ones will be joining in the fun, you will definitely want to bring along a sturdy stroller or baby carrier.
