This Monday, June 5, marks the observance of Whit Monday, the second day of Pentecost. This Christian holiday is celebrated 50 days after Easter when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles.

Whit Monday is a public holiday in all German states. Government offices, banks, and most businesses and restaurants will be closed for the day. Other European countries, such as Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, and the Netherlands, also observe this holiday.
