Wondering what to do this weekend? We've got some great events in Bavaria and Stuttgart lined up for you! Here's what's up:

Bavaria

Spearing the Dragon
July 4 – Aug. 20, Furth

An ancient legend comes to life with Germany’s oldest festival; spearing the Furth Dragon. The Middle Ages were a time full of myth and legend, and nothing is more legendary than a dragon. With a 500-year tradition, along with some impressive pyrotechnics and the largest four-legged walking robot in the world (the Furth Dragon has been registered in the Guinness Book of World Records) this city has definitely figured out how to put on a fantastic show!

Gäubodenvolksfest Festival
Aug. 11 – 21, Straubing

Come enjoy one of Bavaria´s oldest and most popular festivals – garnering more than 1 million visitors within 11 days! Even with the crowds, the volksfest has maintained its original character as a genuine festival loved by locals. Seven giant beer halls contain 24,000 seats, serving up a variety of delicious Bavarian beer and food. Along with a delightful amusement park boasting more than 120 rides, carousels, shops and shows – you’re guaranteed a festival of fun and entertainment.

Summer Night at Freizeit-land Geiselwind Amusement Park
Aug. 12, between Würburg and Nuremberg

The Geiselwind amusement park offers a wide range of fun and excitement for all ages. Whether it’s a thrilling roller coaster, free falls or water rides – Geiselwind offers a jam-packed day of fun. But it’s the Summer Night show that makes the park really glitter with light and art performers, then topped with a fireworks show.

Guided Hiking Tour
Aug. 14 and 21, Zugspitze

Experience nature in its brilliant alpine beauty with a summer hike around the Zugspitze. As the highest mountain in Germany, the Zugspitze area offers some of the most stunning views in the country. After a refreshing hike, relax in one of the area’s many terraces, mountain huts or cafés and enjoy the breathtaking beauty surrounding you.


Stuttgart

Lake Titisee Night Festival
Aug. 11, Hochschwarzwald

Beginning at 7 p.m., Lake Titi will come alive with food, live music on a floating stage, rides and games for children, and so much more. Don’t miss the fabulous fireworks display at 10:30 p.m. The cost is 3.50 euros for adults 16 years and older.

Night Festival on the Lake
Aug. 12, Lake Constance

You didn’t get enough last night at Lake Titi? Lake Constance hosts their annual summer festival. It’s complete with live music, outstanding food and beverages, a market and children’s activities. The highlight of the event is the spectacular fireworks display, which is choreographed to music following this year’s theme, “The Elements.” Activities start at 3 p.m. and the fireworks begin around 10:15 p.m. For additional event and ticket information, visit the official website.

Children’s Festival 2017
Aug. 13, Stuttgart Airport

The Stuttgart airport will host a large festival for kids this weekend at 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some of the parking areas will be set up with a variety of activities and games to include a virtual reality simulator, climbing tower, photo opps, face painting and so much more.
