In our monthly What’s Up magazine, our Editor’s Picks give you a heads-up about eight of the best events going on in Germany. But it’s hard to just pick eight, so here’s a more inclusive list! Each week, we will give you the need-to-know for on-base and regional events. We know there are tons of Christmas markets happening, and we include a few. However, to get the most complete list of Christmas markets, see our online directory at https://europe.stripes.com/christmasmarkets.

Regions include the KMC, Rhein-Main, Stuttgart and Bavaria.




Kaiserslautern: Arts and Craft Market at the Fruchthalle: Until December 18, enjoy arts, crafts, coffee, cake and more at this event of over 70 vendors.

Kaiserslautern: Beer&BBQ: Head down to Fritz Walter Stadium where you can enjoy music, BBQ, 30 different whiskeys and over 200 types of beer all weekend long.

Trier: Beats and Bowl: Every Friday and Saturday, bowl to some awesome music and chow down on food and drinks.

Saarbrücken: Christmas Garden: All weekend long, be amazed at how the Deutsch-Französischer Garten is transformed into a Christmas garden.

ROB Fitness Center (MWR): Leftover 5K Run: If you are still full of stuffing, run some of it off in this 5K event.

Landstuhl Library (MWR): LEGO Free Build Hour: For all ages from 3:30-4:30 p.m., you can channel your inner builder and create Lego masterpieces.

Armstrong's Club, Vogelweh Housing (MWR): Karaoke Night: Belt out your favorite tunes!

Baumholder Warrior Zone (MWR): Music Friday Nights: Shake your groove thing until midnight. 

Ramstein Outdoor Recreation: Family Climb Fridays: The first 50 people climb for free.


Thallichtenberg: Medieval Christmas market at Lichtenberg Castle: Find all your Christmas wants and needs at this Medieval castle on Saturday and Sunday.

Neuleiningen: Christmas Market at the Castle: Explore the castle ruins and pick up some Christmas gifts Saturday and Sunday.

St. Ingbert: FAO (FEMALE ARTISTS ONLY) Exhibit: You are invited to the Kvest Gallery to see the work of three female artists.

Saarbrücken: Advent Bazaar: Shop advent wreaths and Christmas decorations while sipping on Glühwein and eating treats.

Armstrong's Club, Vogelweh Housing (MWR): Hip Hop Night: Doors open at 9 p.m. 18+ event.

Tavern on the Rock, Baumholder (MWR): Karaoke Night: Belt out your favorite tunes!


Kaiserslautern: America on Screen: “Everything Everywhere All At Once”: Make your way to this free event at UNION – Studio für Filmkunst and see this film with special guest, Dr. Kien Nghi Ha, University of Tübingen. The film will be shown in English with German subtitles.

St. Wendel: Flea Market at Globus: Enjoy this completely covered flea market in the Globus car park.

Zweibrücken: Outdoor Flea Market: Make your way to the Schlossplatz and find your next previously-owned treasure.

Baumholder Warrior Zone (MWR): Sing Along Sunday: Belt out your favorite tunes!




Frankfurt: Christmas Garden: Until January 15, 2023, the Deutsche Bank Park will be transformed into a magical light garden experience.

Frankfurt: Live Jazz: Head over to the Art Bar and spend the evening listening to their always-changing rotation of Jazz musicians.

Mainz: Flashlight tours in the Natural History Museum: Children 5 and up (accompanied by family) can grab a flashlight and spend an hour touring the museum at night.

Bad König: Christmas Lights: Around the large lake of the Bad Königer Kurpark, you can see beautiful lights until December 23.

Eltville: Cheese, Chocolate and Wine Tasting: Enjoy 7 flights of wine, cheese and chocolate.


Wiesbaden: Forest Christmas: Enjoy delicious foods and drinks in this Christmas/Advent-decorated atmosphere.

Wiesbaden: Chicago: A Musical Vaudeville: Find out why “he had it comin’” and what “All that Jazz” is about at this award-winning musical.

Frankfurt: Night Market: Make your way to the zoo for some night-time shopping of crafts, art, fashion, jewelry and more.

Mainz: Nighttime Flea Market: See what you can find at this special night-time flea market.

Mainz: The Magical Music of Harry Potter: Use your imagination (and the music) to travel to Platform 9 ¾  and Hogwarts. 

Neu-Anspach: Advent Market in Hessen Park: Shop for all your holiday trinkets on Saturday and Sunday.

Heppenheim: Flea Market: Every Saturday, you can find your next treasure at this market.


Wiesbaden: WalkYoga in Castle Park: No matter required at this event where you practice your best yoga poses as you walk through the park.

Frankfurt: Deutschland Tattoo - Royal Music Show: Not that kind of tattoo, rather, the “tattoo” behind the tradition of military and marching bands. Enjoy this show which brings in musicians from around the world.

Hanau: Christmas Market at the Greyhound Racing Club: This one is for the dogs. Bring Fido (and their vaccination card) and shop all your dog-related needs and accessories.

Wiesbaden Library (MWR): Music Club: Join fellow music enthusiasts and share your love of music or even a song.

Wiesbaden (MWR): Sunday Movie Deep Dive: “Children ages 4-11 are invited to enjoy a movie, snacks, a story and color pages” at this fun event for kids and parents.




Boathouse Boeblingen: The Winterhofle: Sip different glühweins and eat grilled food by the fireplace. 

Wilhelma: Christmas Garden: Until January 15, experience the most beautiful light show in Stuttgart and eat some great food as you stroll along the garden.


Messe Stuttgart: Comic Con Stuttgart: On Saturday and Sunday, dress up in your favorite costume, meet your favorite fandom celebrities and shop all your fandom items.

Schlampazius: Handmade Winter Market: Shop winter-related arts, crafts, wine and more at this market.

Im Wizemann: Silverstein Live in Concert: Rock out to their best tunes with special guests Comeback Kid, KOYO and Senses Fail.

Mtv Stuttgart Halle West: Roller Derby Live: Cheer on the Stuttgart team as they take on Karlsruhe. 

Phoenixhalle im Römerkastell: Made in Stuggi: Shop hand-made products made by the residents of the Stuttgart area on Saturday and Sunday.

Ludwigsburg: Glowing Dream Paths: Until December 4, the Blühendes Barock Park is transformed into a series of gorgeously lit walking paths.

Neu-Ulm: Tattoo Convention: Get inked or just marvel at all of the art happening around you on Saturday and Sunday.

Patch Library (Stuttgart MWR): Write a Novel with the Patch Library during National Novel Writing Month: Gather with fellow writers and work on your novel for NaNoWriMo.


Kunstmuseum: Family Sunday: Art to Participate: Every Sunday, enjoy a family-friendly tour through the museum.




Munich: Tollwood Winter Festival: Until December 23, enjoy rides, eat delicious fair food, and the 12-meter high firebird sculpture.

Munich: Volbeat Live in Concert: Rock out at this concert with special guests Skindred and Bad Wolves on Friday and Saturday.

Augsburg: 8th International Hannabach Guitar Competition: Check out this international competition for classical guitarists on Friday and Saturday.

Rose Barracks (Vilseck MWR): Cosmic Bowling: Bowl some strikes with the lights turned off in this cosmic scene.

Terrace Playhouse (Ansbach MWR): Ansbach's Got Talent - Video Audition Submission: From Nov. 15 to Dec. 15, send in your video auditions to see if you have what it takes to compete.

Ansbach Library (MWR): Find it Friday!: Visit the library and see if you can solve the weekly puzzle and win the prize.

Ansbach Library (MWR): Board Game Day: Try out all types of board games all day long.

USO Camp Aachen: Friday Night Game Night (18+): Come play your favorite games and connect with others.

USO Grafenwoehr: 2022 Boards & Swords: Gather with other gamers and play games like Magic the Gathering, Pandemic and more.
