Weekend What’s Up: Sept. 23-25
In our monthly What’s Up magazine, our Editor’s Picks give you a heads up about eight of the best events going on in Germany. But it’s hard to just pick eight, so here’s a more inclusive list! Each week, we will give you the need-to-know for on-base and regional events.
Regions include the KMC, Rhein-Main, Stuttgart and Bavaria.
Kaiserslautern/KMC:
Friday
Landstuhl: City Cup Shooting: Grab three teammates and see who is the best shot in all of Landstuhl beginning on Wednesday and lasting on Saturday.
Trier: WineFever: Five regional wine stands and one national wine stand are joined with live music and good food at this festival all weekend all.
Trier: Street Food Festival Trier: Eat delicious street foods from a variety of vendors all weekend long and check out the onsite children’s circus.
Trier: Beats and Bowl: Every Friday and Saturday, bowl to some awesome music and chow down on food and drinks.
Freinsheim: Wine Hike: All weekend long, drink wine and hike to 18 places across Freinsheim.
KMC Onstage (MWR): The Yellow Boat Performances: Go see this first weekend of performances of this moving play about a boy born with congenital hemophilia who transforms his pain into art.
Armstrong's Club, Vogelweh Housing (MWR): Karaoke Night: Belt out your favorite tunes.
Kazabra Club (MWR): Vyant Band Music Show: Rock out to this band at the club.
SKIES Unlimited building Landstuhl (MWR): Newborn Network and Breastfeeding Cafe: Meet fellow families and Mom2Mom breastfeeding counselors.
Baumholder Warrior Zone (MWR): Music Friday Nights: Shake your groove thing until midnight.
Baumholder (MWR): Stuffed Animal Sleepover: Drop off your favorite stuffed animal at the library and pick them up on Saturday and hear all about their overnight adventures.
Saturday
Pirmasens: Festival Euroclassic - Nils Wülker and the Phoenix Foundation: Enjoy this concert, part of the 30-concert series happening across various German cities between late August and October 30.
Trier: Dog Fair: Spend the weekend surrounded by dogs, vendors and dog-related information such as dental care, insurance and grooming.
Homburg: Saar-Palatinate Country Market: Fresh apples, all the wurst and many vendors await you at this market in the city-center.
Homburg: Homburg Wiesn: If you want to experience Oktoberfest, but cannot make your way to Munich, this is the place for you filled with music, food and of course, beer.
Kazabra Club, Vogelweh (MWR): Country Night: Play pool, ride the mechanical bull and “boot, scoot and boogie” at Country Night.
Landstuhl (MWR): Dog Jog: Grab Fido and race against other dogs and people. The first three dog/owner pairs across the finish line will receive a $25 gift card from AAFES.
Armstrong’s Club, Vogelweh Housing (MWR): Hip Hop Night: Enjoy your favorite hip hop hits every fourth Saturday of the month.
Tavern on the Rock, Baumholder (MWR): Karaoke Night: Belt out your favorite tunes.
Baumholder (MWR): Golf Flea Market: If you have any clubs or golf accessories that you no longer need, sell them at the Rolling Hills Golf Course.
Ramstein (USO): Pokémon Bingo: If you want to be the very best, grab your family and friends and come down and play Pokémon-themed bingo and win Pokémon-related prizes.

Baumholder Outdoor Recreation (MWR): UTV Guided Tours: Grab your family and friends and be guided through scenic backroads, market towns and other places in the local area.

Frankfurt: Ed Sheeran: You have three chances this weekend to see Sheeran live at Deutsche Bank Park.

Frankfurt: Machine Gun Kelly: If Ed Sheeran isn’t your jam, make your way over to the Festhalle for Machine Gun Kelly.
Frankfurt: Löwen Frankfurt vs. Iserlohn Roosters: Cheer on the Frankfurt ice hockey team as the play against the Roosters.
Mainz: WineWalk: "Best of Goldisch Meenz": Sip various wines as you are guided through different parts of Mainz and learn some secrets of the city.
Wiesbaden (MWR): Resilience: A Solo Cello Recital: Dr. Patrick Bellah will entertain the crowd with 20th century cello music on Friday and Saturday night.
Wiesbaden USO Park: Group Play: Join the New Parent Support Program and children of all ages for playtime in the park.

Frankfurt: Calumet Photo Autumn Festival: Enjoy lectures, exhibits and product information at this festival.
Frankfurt: The Magical Music of Harry Potter: Use music to take yourself to Platform 9 3/4, Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest.
Mainz: Queer Childbirth Class: “In this birth preparation course for (expectant) queer parents, we want to create an identity-sensitive space in which we can talk about topics related to pregnancy, childbirth, childbirth and queer parenthood.”
Mainz: Open Door Day: Enjoy free trials of many different lessons offered by Feel Fit Mainz including yoga, aerobics and boxing.
Wiesbaden Outdoor Recreation (MWR): Recreational Shooting: Participants must be 16 years old or older and first timers must attend a mandatory safety briefing before shooting.
Wiesbaden (MWR): Scramble of the Year: Teams of four compete against other teams for various prizes at this golf scramble.

Frankfurt: Zoo Day: Learn behind the scenes secrets of the zoo outside of the animals: Nurseries, workshops, logistics, administration and so much more.
Frankfurt: Autumn Afternoon at the Frankfurt House: Pick out some pumpkins, carve pumpkins, a painting competition and yummy cake can be found here.
Mainz: Guided tour from the Roman Theater to the Mainz Citadel: Take this two-hour guided tour through 2000 years of history. Foreign language tours are provided upon request here.
Wiesbaden: Wiesbaden Sings: If you like to sing, grab a free songbook provided onsite and join the other singers.
Wiesbaden (MWR): Sunday Movie Deep Dive: “Children ages 4-11 are invited to enjoy a movie, snacks, a story and color pages” at this fun event for kids and parents.
Wiesbaden (MWR): Music Club: Join other music enthusiasts: Tune your instrument and talk music, share skills and maybe even create a tune of your own.

Art Museum: Family Sunday: Aimed at families with children four and older, this 1.5-hour tour of the museum educates families on the different exhibits.

International School of Stuttgart: International College Day: If you or your teen are interested in attending a college in in the UK, Canada, the USA or Europe, this is the college fair for you.
WeingenussStuttgart: Wine Experience Tour: Explore all of the best wine places in Stuttgart and taste three different wines along the way.
Cannstatter Wasen: The 175th Cannstatter Volksfest: Come for the first weekend of fun, food, rides, music and so much more.

SCHARrena: Hummel Volley Ball Cup: Watch three volleyball games of German teams versing French teams.
