Weekend What’s Up: Sept. 16-18
In our monthly What’s Up magazine, our Editor’s Picks give you a heads up about eight of the best events going on in Germany. But it’s hard to just pick eight, so here’s a more inclusive list! Each week, we will give you the need-to-know for on-base and regional events.
Regions include the KMC, Rhein-Main, Stuttgart and Bavaria.
Kaiserslautern/KMC:
Friday
Kaiserslautern: Photo Fest: Beginning on the 15th and throughout the entire weekend, enjoy the work of internationally-known photographers, regional favorites and young local talent.
Trier: Beats and Bowl: Every Friday and Saturday, bowl to some awesome music and chow down on food and drinks.
Landstuhl Community Club (MWR): Pool Tournament: Play for your chance to win the $50 first prize.
Kazabra Club, Vogelweh (MWR): Sam See Comedy Show: Be prepared to laugh until you burst at the Comedy Club watching See and Coor Cohen perform.
Armstrong's Club, Vogelweh Housing (MWR): Karaoke Night: Belt out your favorite tunes.
SKIES Unlimited building (MWR): Newborn Network: Meet fellow families and New Parent Support program nurses.
Baumholder Warrior Zone (MWR): Music Friday Nights: Shake your groove thing until midnight.
USO Baumholder: Rock The Block: Party with USO, rock out to the DJ, chow down on cotton candy and play some games.
Ramstein AFB: Ramstein Bazaar: The 58th annual Ramstein Bazaar returns to Air Base for four days this year with a large variety of food vendors and merchants. “A portion of every sale and 100 percent of the net proceeds goes to organizations such as local schools, scout troops, non-profits, and base events.”
Saturday
Kaiserslautern: K-Town Bears at Red Sappers: Take yourself out to this ballgame and enjoy this American favorite pastime.
Trier: Eintracht Trier vs. Wormatia Worms: If football (soccer) is more your sport, watch this game in Trier.
Bad Dürkheim: Wine Festival: Try all the wines at the world’s largest wine festival, which is ironically named after sausage, but together they make a great accompaniment.
Kazabra Club, Vogelweh (MWR): Country Night: Play pool, ride the mechanical bull and “boot, scoot and boogie” at Country Night.
Armstrong's Club, Vogelweh Housing (MWR): Latin Night: Enjoy all the Latin music at this event on the first and third Saturdays of every month.
Tavern on the Rock, Baumholder (MWR): Karaoke Night: Belt out your favorite tunes.
Baumholder Outdoor Recreation (MWR): German Fishing Course: This two-day course, which will take place in Kaiserslautern, will allow you to learn everything you need to graduate and receive your permit.
Wetzel Kasern (Baumholder MWR): Air Force Birthday Golf Scramble: Just five minutes from Smiths Barracks to the Rolling Hills Golf Course for this four-person, eighteen-hole scramble.
KMC Onstage (MWR): Dance Audition Workshop: Nervous about an upcoming audition or just want to learn or fine tune your dancing skills? This is the workshop for you.
Sunday
Trier: Cocktail Workshop: Learn tips and tricks behind making modern and classic cocktails.
Pirmasens: Shopping Sunday: Shop until your drop at this market with plenty of merchants, and don’t worry about working up an appetite, as there are dining options onsite.
Pirmasens: Pranayama Workshop: Learn all the best yoga breathing techniques in this 90-minute workshop.
Baumholder Warrior Zone (MWR): Sing Along Sunday: Belt out your favorite tunes.
Baumholder Outdoor Recreation (MWR): UTV Guided Tours: Grab your family and friends and be guided through scenic backroads, market towns and other places in the local area.

Friday
Frankfurt: Indonesia Festival: All weekend long you can learn all about the beauty and culture of Indonesia.
Frankfurt: The Princely Garden Festival Schloss Wolfsgarten: Enjoy macarons, oysters, readings, lectures, cabaret and the blending of French and German cultures all weekend.
Wiesbaden: Bickelmaier wines at the Sonnenberg Wine Stand: Take in the almost-autumn air and sip on wine.
Wiesbaden (MWR): Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical Jr.: You have three chances this weekend to see this family-friendly musical about the plucky Matilda.
Wiesbaden (MWR): Friday Night Scramble: Tee up with three other players and compete in this nine-hole competition.
Wiesbaden USO Park: Group Play: Join the New Parent Support Program and children of all ages for playtime in the park.
Wiesbaden (MWR): German-American Flea Market: Bring euros to this cash-only event and find hidden treasures in the items being sold at the market.
Saturday
Frankfurt: Schwedlersee Summer Concert Series: Enjoy the last concert of the summer season. Admission includes one free drink (non-cocktail).
Frankfurt: Löwen Frankfurt vs. Pinguins Bremerhaven: Cheer on the Frankfurt ice hockey team as the play against the Pinguins.
Frankfurt: Arbeaumania - The Dances of the 16th Century: History buffs and dance lovers can take part in learning the dances of Renaissance-era on Saturday and Sunday.
Mainz: Mainz Apple Orchard with a Small Apple Festival and Apple Picking: Pick the freshest apples right from source and have fun at the festival.
Mainz: WineWalk: “Mainz with a View": Sip multiple wines as you are guided through different parts of Mainz and learn some secrets of the city.
Mainz:APROPRO JAZZ: Enjoy an open-air jazz concert featuring a quartet and food and drink onsite.
Wiesbaden Outdoor Recreation (MWR): Open Paintball Play Day: Everyone 10-years-old and older can mask up and shoot paintballs in the field.

Frankfurt: Film Exchange: Come find your next favorite film, CD or comic book at this event.
Frankfurt: Monastery Concert: Listen to the intriguing orchestral sounds in this recurring Sunday concert series.
Frankfurt: Antique and Collectors Market: Discover your next treasured item for the home or office at this market.
Wiesbaden (MWR): Sunday Movie Deep Dive: “Children ages 4-11 are invited to enjoy a movie, snacks, a story and color pages” at this fun event for kids and parents.
Wiesbaden Library (MWR): Maker Space- Recycled Art and Wired Sculptures: Bring your own supplies, or use what is available at the library, get creative with others and make your own art from recycled materials.
Wiesbaden (MWR): Music Club: Join other music enthusiasts: Tune your instrument and talk music, share skills and maybe even a tune of your own.

Deutsch-Amerikanisches Zentrum: Baltimore Beauties-Quilting Bee: This is an English and German-language event where you can gather with others and get your sewing circle on.
Messe Stuttgart: AMB Stuttgart: This is the fair for metalworking enthusiasts from around the world Friday and Saturday.
Eisstadion: S.T.A.R. 2022-Stuttgart Techno and Rave Festival: For two days rave your way through three separate stages at this festival.
Big Gago 93 Bar & Dining: English Comedy-Stand-Up Open Mic: Eat some great food while listening to up-and-coming comedians try their material on the crowd.
Stadtpalais: Stuttgart: Twenties: Travel back in time and rock to the Linda Kyei Swing Combo at this free admission event.
Congress Hall Böblingen: Antiques and Art Fair: Find your next vase or living room art piece from the time of emperors.

Eliszis Jahrmarktstheater: Killesberg Open Air: Bachata Salsa & Kizomba: Dance the night away at this donation-only event and if you salsa up an appetite, there are food and drinks options on site.
