Event alert: Coffee festival in Frankfurt

For some, coffee is just an easy means to jolt oneself awake; for others, it’s a way of life. Those who treasure a quality cup of java as if it’s liquid gold might wish to join baristas and bean roasters for a special event in Frankfurt am Main over the coming weekend.

The first-ever Frankfurt Coffee Festival aims to bring together not only the professional coffee crowd but those whose enthusiasm for the beverage lingers throughout the day.

Exhibitors displaying their goods and services range from producers of coffee-making paraphernalia to makers of dairy products to cafe owners. In addition to checking out the stands, visitors can take in a cultural program of talks, film screenings and a barista competition. On Saturday, a DJ will be on hand to provide a fitting soundtrack to the proceedings.

The festival takes place Oct. 1-3 in Union Hall. Visitor hours are from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Entry costs 15 euros, and tickets are available online in advance.
