 Happy Birthday, America! Today is a glorious day for Americans who are filled with great pride and love for the United States of America. To celebrate, read up on these four quirky facts about the Fourth of July:

1. Official or unofficial? - July 4th was not declared a federal holiday until 1938.

2. Party in the U.S.A. - The White House hosted its very first Fourth of July party in 1801.

3. Bring out the dollar bills - In one year, the United States spends 600 million dollars on fireworks alone.

4. Wear your stretchy pants - In the U.S., around 150 million hot dogs are consumed on the 4th each year. Sorry, burger lovers.

Take your newfound knowledge of today’s holiday and impress your family and friends. Enjoy the firework shows, tasty food, great music and good company. Happy Fourth of July!
