Now that winter is leaving us, it’s time to get off the couch, put the remote down and enjoy the sun, warmer weather and all the things the much-welcomed spring season has to offer. Here are 10 reasons to come out of hibernation and embrace spring in Germany.

  1. Flowers are starting to bloom. The Cherry Blossom Festival in Bonn is a must-see.
  2. Easter markets galore — keep in mind Easter this year is April 21.
  3. Frühlingsfest, or the Stuttgart Spring Festival, is not to be missed! The festival is from April 20 - May 12, 2019
  4. There are other spring festivals such as the spring fair in Frankfurt (April 12 - May 5, 2019) and the Nuremberg Spring Volksfest (April 20 – May 12, 2019)
  5. There are many open-air music festivals happening now that warmer weather is here.
  6. Theme parks are opening their doors. Europa-Park is open for thrills April 6, 2019.
  7. It’s spargelzeit – asparagus season where you can enjoy all things asparagus.
  8. You can enjoy outdoor activities again! Try going on a volksmarch — non-competitive fitness walking or going on a hike.
  9. The fan-favorite castle Burg Eltz will be open to explore April 1, 2019
  10. Spring weather allows for great conditions to take a river cruise! Whether you cruise down the popular Mosel or Rhine, you won’t be disappointed!
