Open since October 2015, the De Vine Wine retail shop in downtown Landstuhl offers more than 200 wines from across Europe. Owner and sommelier Mark Lee was previously active-duty Air Force and later a DOD civilian.

Now retired from government service, Lee started De Vine to share his passion for wine with others in a casual setting. He says, "Guests enjoy coming in and are not afraid to ask questions."

And it's pretty easy to see why. Lee delivers an unprententious education about wine regions and varietals, adding funny anecdotes about his travel experiences and taste preferences. Customers keep coming back, often bringing along friends on their return visits.

De Vine is located at Kaiserstrasse 40 in Landstuhl and is open 1-8 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.

Wine Tastings at De Vine: De Vine's monthly wine tastings are a favorite hangout for area residents. For a set fee, usually 10 euros, attendees learn about and try a number of wines.

The next tasting at De Vine is all about Spanish wines, scheduled for Oct. 14-15 from 1 to 8 p.m. For details and reservations, call 06371-977-3060.

Wine Tastings + Yoga: Lee also partners with König B’s Crossfit Kaiserslautern, also in Landstuhl, to offer Wine & Yoga evenings. The 15-euro fee includes a yoga class, plus a wine tasting!

The next date is Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. Arrive early to find parking and pay.

Contact Heather Bross, owner of König B’s Crossfit Kaiserslautern, to register: 0151-5328-5182.
