Coco Momo: Memorable name, generous breakfast
After a semi-restful sleep at a budget hotel in Kensington, my companions and I needed caffeine and a substantial breakfast to start off our weekend in London. We did a quick online search for options close by and agreed on Coco Momo for its interesting name, helpful website and appealing menu.
A friendly waiter directed us to a comfortable booth near the open grill area. The breakfast offerings were impressive, from sweet, simple pastries and homemade Belgian waffles to savory egg dishes and the traditional English breakfast. Several coffee, juice and non-alcoholic fruit cocktails were also available.
My hazelnut latte was warm and velvety with a hint of sweet, nutty hazelnut. When my eggs Florentine arrived, I was surprised at the immense portion size. The two large eggs were perfectly poached, and the amount of dark green, fresh spinach was quite generous. My only complaint is that I didn’t have more of the rich, creamy hollandaise sauce.
The atmosphere was fairly quiet and laid back, and service was speedy. We accessed the free Wi-Fi to look at itinerary options and plan out our day in the city while sipping our second coffees.
I was fascinated at the cooks bustling about the kitchen and smiling as they prepared meals. As breakfast turned to lunchtime, the meals leaving the kitchen had us wishing for more – even though we were stuffed. The gourmet burgers towered on plates in seas of British chips (similar to French fries), and the salads looked fresh from the garden.
Coco Momo’s reasonable prices, large portions, delicious comfort food and friendly staff made for a pleasant breakfast experience. Stop by for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or cocktails seven days a week.
