The "Lautern Bloom On" spring market takes place March 18 and 19 in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Expect informational booths, live music and Sunday shopping — retail stores that are normally closed will be open, including those at K in Lautern mall. Plus, there's the weekly farmers' market at Stiftsplatz, where you can stock up on locally sourced groceries for the week.

As if all of that isn't reason enough to head downtown, you will find cheap eats. Street Food Truck Deutschland vendors and local restaurants will set up mobile kitchens to serve delicious grub.

The event starts at 10 a.m. Saturday in the city center (Innenstadt), and area shops will open at 1p.m. Sunday. Make sure you bring plenty of euros to pay for food, merchandise and parking.
