An ancient Chinese proverb asserts, “To forget one’s ancestors is to be a brook without a source, a tree without a root.”

For individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 whose ancestors hail from the Trentino region of northern Italy, a unique exchange program provides an opportunity to learn more about their family’s history.

By agreeing to provide Trentino participants with reciprocal hospitality, exchange students are offered a chance to visit their homeland for three weeks to immerse themselves in the culture, meet the people and experience the communities firsthand, while learning more about the region’s unique traditions and values.

Additionally, the Autonomous Province of Trento will reimburse participants up to 990 euros of travel expenses to and from non-European countries or 450 euros to and from European countries, including the cost of insurance for duration of the visits; room and board will be provided by the respective exchange families.

The application deadline is Feb. 28, 2017.
