What's up weekend: Kaiserslautern and Wiesbaden June 16-18

June 15, Obermoschel
Cycle, skate or trek your way along 10 kilometers of scenic L379 between the charming villages of Waldgrehweiler and Obersmoschel. The road will be closed to vehicle traffic from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be plenty of live entertainment for all ages, as well as delicious treats and beverages along the way.
Sounds of the World
June 15-17, Kaiserslautern
Let music carry you away to different parts of the world. The 3rd annual Festival of Cultures combines classical sounds from all over the world. Artists hail from Portugal, Germany, Sierra Leone and more.
Culinary Hiking Tour
June 18, Heimkirchen
Participants can choose between a 5.5- and 10-kilometer-loop. Enjoy tasty local cuisine and fantastic vintages from the Rheinland-Pfalz at one of the 10 stations along the route. Take a rest at halfway to take in the beautiful scenery, or to let the kiddos expend their energy at the bounce house. The hike will be take place between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
June 18, Landstuhl
This musical hike takes you through the lush landscape between Landstuhl and Kindsbach. Listen to the sultry sounds of jazz at four different stations along this 5-mile trail. Stop and savor deliciously sweet cake with coffee along the way. Entry fee is 6.50 euros, and children are free. You can purchase tickets at Burg Nanstein and Bärenloch Lake.
Open Day at Wiesbaden Minicar Club
June 15-18, Wiesbaden
Have a blast with some friendly competition and racing — remote-controlled (RC) cars! Take advantage and help test-out a new off-road track, or rev up your 220-volt engines on the regular course. There will be other sports and games available, as well as food and drinks. Admission is free.
Oldtimer Rallye Wiesbaden
June 16-18, Wiesbaden
Car enthusiasts won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind classic car exhibition. With more than 100 vintage cars rolling through the streets of Wiesbaden, you’re sure to find your favorites. Parades will take place between 4 and 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with top prizes being awarded Sunday.
June 17-18, Wiesbaden
Take a step back in time at the Nerotalfest at the Schweizerhaus. Enjoy games and activities throughout the park, and watch cyclists try their hand at riding tall bikes circa early-20th century. Admission is free.
