Wondering what to do this weekend? Here are a few events in Bavaria worth checking out.

Long Night of Music
May 6, Munich

Sleep in as long as you can Saturday morning so you can stay up late for Munich’s highly anticipated Long Night of Music (Die Lange Nacht der Musik). Festivities start at 8 p.m. and last until the wee hours of the morning. More than 100 venues in downtown Munich, from concert halls to small bars and even a few churches, will be offering live music and dance performances. Whether you prefer classical, jazz or hard rock, there will be something for everyone. The admission fee of 15 euros is your ticket to all events as well as unlimited use of the MVG shuttle bus.

Nördlinger Children's Festival
May 6-8, Nördlingen

It’s good to be a kid in Nördlingen the first weekend of May. Stabenfest, or the Nördlinger Children's Festival, is a long-standing tradition that celebrates students of the city’s primary and secondary schools. Since the 15th century, youth take a break from classes and parade through the city streets adorned with floral wreaths and colorful costumes. The fun begins when the carnival and Biergarten open for business on Saturday, May 6. The parade closes out the weekend’s festivities on Monday, May 8 at 9:30 a.m.

STAC Festival
May 6, Augsburg

Let’s get footloose in Augsburg this weekend! More than 800 performing artists will gather at Kongress am Park to show off their jaw-dropping hip hop and break dance moves, Irish folkdances, circus acrobatics and more. The gates open at 12 p.m. and the shows start at 1 p.m., but you’ll want to stay for the day’s highlight event —crowds start gathering for the dance contest at 6 p.m. Purchase your tickets in advance online before the event is sold out.

Maifest at Gasthaus Bräuwastl
May 7, Garmisch

If you happen to be in Garmisch on Sunday, consider stopping by Gasthaus Bräuwastl for a late lunch and its time-honored May Fest (Maifest) jubliee. The traditional Bavarian restaurant will be celebrating the raising of the Maypole with live music, delicious regional dishes and, of course, plenty of beer! The fun starts at 1 p.m. Make a reservation online or by phone at 0049 8821 3388.
