Honoring fallen veterans at ABMC sites throughout Europe

On Veterans Day, American Battle Monument Commission (ABMC) sites throughout the world will be hosting ceremonies to honor our fallen.

Brittany American Cemetery, France
Nov. 11, 10 a.m.
The town of Saint-James is organizing the event, marking the anniversary of the end of World War I with a speech and the laying of wreaths.

Epinal American Cemetery, France
Nov. 11, 9:30 a.m.
Entrance is free and open to the public.

Flanders Field American Cemetery, Belgium
Nov. 11, 11 a.m.
The ceremony will include the laying of wreaths, playing of “Taps”, reading of the President’s Veterans Day proclamation, and the reading of “In Flanders Field” poem. Cub scouts from a local troop will also participate in the ceremony

Florence American Cemetery, Italy
Nov. 11, 11 a.m.
The ceremony will include the laying of wreaths.

Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Belgium
Nov. 11, 11 a.m.
Members of the U.S. Coast Guard will participate in the ceremony. Attendance is free and open to the public.

Lorraine American Cemetery, France
Nov. 11, 11 a.m.
The American Legion, Department of France, and the Ramstein Military Chapter Harley Owners Group will participate. Attendance is free and open to the public.

Luxembourg American Cemetery, Luxembourg
Nov. 11, 11 a.m.
Volunteers from the 52nd Fighter Wing, based in Spangdahlem, Germany, and the Marine Security Detachment from the embassy will provide support for the ceremony. The event is free and open to the public.

Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, France
Nov. 11, 10 a.m.
The ceremony will include the reading of the presidential proclamation and a poem, a wreath laying, and the playing of “Taps” and national anthems. Attendees are invited to attend ceremonies in Romagne sous Montfaucon and Montfaucon en Argonne immediately following the one at the cemetery. All visitors are also invited to a reception at the town hall. The events are free and open to the public.

Netherlands American Cemetery, The Netherlands
Nov. 11, 11 a.m.
Students and ROTC from AFNorth High School are organizing the ceremony. Attendance is free and open to the public.

Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, France
Nov. 11, 10:15 a.m.
The laying of wreaths will be included.

Rhone American Cemetery, France
Nov. 11, 11 a.m.
Six individuals will lay wreaths during the ceremony. Attendance is free and open to the public.

St. Mihiel American Cemetery, France
Nov. 11, 11 a.m.
The ceremony is sponsored jointly by the cemetery and town hall of Thiaucourt, France. Volunteers from the U.S. Air Force Sergeant Association in Germany will support the event. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
