Experience one of the largest wine fests along the Moselle River
The old town of Cochem will celebrate the 83rd Heimat-und Weinfest starting Thursday, August 24 through Monday, August 28. Located in the most romantic part of the Moselle Valley, you can sip on Riesling wine and sparkling Rieslingsekte at various wine cellars. Immerse yourself in the town’s streets and alleys filled with live music, parades and stands of local delicacies. You can watch the night sky illuminate with mesmerizing fireworks only at 10 p.m. on Sunday.
Make your time at Cochem more memorable with a trip to the town’s castle known as Reichsburg Cochem. The medieval castle rises high above the town on a grassy
hill. In the 19th century, Louis Ravené, the Berlin councilor of commerce, restored the castle in neo-gothic style after the electors of Trier damaged it during the Palatinate succession war. You can see the beauty of the castle and learn more about its history during a multilingual-guided tour given daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Cochem wine fest is an even you don’t want to miss! Start the day off with a castle tour or turn it into a weekend trip! Either way, Cochem is a town you won’t regret experiencing!
